Autism Seminars

In September, 2009, I attended an Autism seminar, run by Dr Jacqueline Roberts, SLP. It focussed on the latest intervention approaches for children with Autism. As a result of this informative seminar, I have more of a focus on including school curriculum activities in my therapy with children with Autism, including priming them for information/vocabulary that will surface in the classroom so that they are familiar with the material. Consequently, they are confident to participate in the classroom, leading to better learning outcomes.

In February, 2010, I attended an Autism seminar conducted by Monique Simpson, SLP. This seminar was enlightening for practical day-to-day therapy sessions as well as assessment sessions. Monique presented her social communication model which was very practical and detailed the areas of communication that are important to continually assess in children with Autism.
